Not exactly a high roller

One of the fun things about traveling over my birthday has been the people giving me money to spend while I am there. Each person who has given me such a gift has requested I put some money into a slot machine and split whatever winnings I get. I guess I could go into any of the Las Vegas hotels and put some quarters/ tokens into any machine.

I have two stories about slot machines:

When I was little my family took a trip from upstate New York down to Ocracoke Island. We spent the night in Atlantic City where of course the kids were not allowed in the casinos. My dad wanted to put at least one dollar in a slot machine, so he went to the change window, while we stood just outside the line we could not cross. He came back laughing because he felt a little silly. When he was in line someone got tokens for $50. Another got tokens for $20. And then my dad approached the window and said, "I just need a dollar changed." Not exactly a high roller, my dad.

And then there was Mrs. Booth. She was the head chaplain's wife at our base in Germany. She seemed to have "the touch." She would just win when it came to the slots. My mom told me Mrs. Booth would go to the commissary to buy her family's groceries then head over to the bowling alley where there were a few slot machines. And she would then win back all the money she had just spent on groceries.

Not sure if I will be as lucky or if I will put in more than two dollars, but I plan on trying the slot machine just a little bit. Have you ever gambled in Vegas?

Remember going to the Casino on the Indian Reservation in Tucson? I think all we played were the slot machines but it was fun.

That's right! I knew I had played slots somewhere else, but couldn't remember exactly. That was a lot of fun.

YES! And it really is fun if you don't take it seriously...
I mean- unless you are like Mrs. Booth, that is!
haha
I think slots are fun- just know how much money you are willing to lose- they have NICKEL slots- so it really feels like you are into something. Its pretty exciting to hear all the money come barreling down out of the machine- even if it is only nickels!

Have fun- I know you will!
AND- when you do win big will you let us know!!!!

Happy Travels!

I got to Atlantic City a few times a year...here's the thing...it's scary how fast your money can go...be aware of what you are spending, have a limit set...and then that's it. be done...

yes on the nickels, but remember if you put 1 quarter in a quarter slot, it's .25 cents....with penny slots and nickels, people tend to spend more...they'll play say 10 lines iwth nickels, and now you're playing .50 each pull...or pennies, play 20 lines, and do like 5 times the payment on each line...it's just pennies right? you're now spending 1.00 each pull...
