Ready for a new camera
Before we left for the wedding I made a impulse purchase and bought two lenses for my Canon IS S3- a wide angle and a telephoto. I got some interesting effects, but it made me start thinking.
When I made the decision to buy the Canon S3 I thought I was getting as close to a DSLR as I could without crossing the line. I guess using the new lenses solidified for me that maybe I need to be working toward crossing the line to something on the low end of the DSLR like something in the Nikon D40x family or the Canon EOS series. I am not that knowledgeable about the lenses and everything, but I think I am not really learning much with the Canon S3 that I currently have.
If I want to move forward in digital photography, I need to take bigger steps. And that means it is time to start saving again...
I am pretty sure the D40 isn't compatible with as many lenses as most DSLRs (something about having too many autofocus points?) I am really really happy with my Digital Rebel XTI. I did a lot of research and bought the body and a 50mm lens. I have been really pleased with my pictures and I think having to zoom with my feet made me mess more with the technical stuff and learn more things more quickly since I can't mess with zooming. My $.02...

If you haven't checked there yet, they do the best reviews. :)
