Squelching the rebellion

Last week we had to get a new fridge. Last month our front loading washer door flew open during the wash cycle. And then on Tuesday I was no longer capable of opening my dishwasher door without the assistance of Damon.

My friend Cass, a funny lady who has recently had her share of home appliance troubles, told me

"you never should have ponied up with the fridge. I've learned that when the appliances start making demands, you have to stand firm. Otherwise, one after another, they will balk. And then you will have to buy new everything."

It cracks me up to think of appliances conspiring with one another. But it would explain a lot. I have to admit that I was looking at the Mother's Day appliance sales with dread, thinking "We just bought a fridge, we can't buy a new dishwasher too!" And then my mind would wonder how a double drawer washer would look in our kitchen!

Thanks to the internet, keeping every single book that came with our appliances, and a very helpful appliance part warehouse, last night D told the washing machine and dishwasher who was boss. He was able to replace the striker on the washing machine so it won't fly open any more. And then he replaced handle contraption on the dishwasher.

I'm hoping the household appliances learned their lessons and won't start an uprising any time soon.

Hahahaha, just you wait! Seriously, I am glad your fixes were cheaper than mine.

It is a conspiracy. Believe it.
