Building with Toobeez
Fuller is currently playing with his Heros wooden bricks. He got them from Christmas and he really likes using them to separate into the different shapes.
They come in four colors and sometimes we divide them up into colors and ask him to put the green one with the green group or the red one with the red group. He understands sometimes, especially the color yellow, but he prefers to separate them into long lines of the same shapes. And he loves putting them away in their big tub.
There is something out there in the toy market that I was looking at earlier and it appears to be really amazing. It is considered an open ended toy, the uses seem to be really endless. You can visit www.toobeez.com to see the product used as a toy.
I love the idea that it can be used for physical education (a great obstacle course in the making) and the site points out the ways it can be used as an autism toy. They even offer a Toobeez Occupational Therapy Activity Workbook with different activities to help with cognitive, communication, and physical skills.
And you can visit www.project-connect.net to see the product being used as a "fun tool" to bring people together. I can see it being used at Vacation Bible Schools across the US. The site even shows ways corporations can use it for team building exercises (something my old job could have used).
A full set costs about $150, but they have a free 30 day trail available to those in the physical therapy field. Looks like it could benefit a lot of areas of life. I could see something like Toobeez making its way into our family toy box someday.
These are awesome, great link and thank you for sharing.
