Sunday School Redux

Last Sunday we only had 3 students in our Sunday School class. Most of the other kids were out on vacation due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Today we also only had 3 students, but none of them were the ones from last week. So instead of going on to lesson 5, I repeated lesson 4 from the previous week.

The story was about the Magi visiting Jesus after his birth. To begin the lesson I had the kids scour magazines for holiday gift ideas with emphasis on gifts they would give their mom, dad, brother, sister, or cousins. The point was that they needed to find gifts that they would give someone.

I was really impressed at the thoughtfulness that the kids put into their searching. One girl knew her brother loves chocolate, so that is what she decided he needed to have for Christmas. Two students wanted to give cats as gifts, but I think that was actually veering from the giving to others and more of what they wanted. Another student wanted to give his baby brother oranges. That made me laugh.

Having the same lesson two weeks in a row was nice, next week we can all be caught up together.
