A Haunted Honeymoon

When I was fresh out of college I lived in an apartment up the street from the house I am in now. That Halloween, Damon and I held a party where a bunch of friends came over, had cider, food, and helped me pass out candy to the neighborhood kids. For entertainment we watched the movie When a Stranger Calls.

One of our guests was our friend Trippy. If you know Trippy then you know he does not like scary movies. We (Damon and I) lied to him and told him When a Stranger Calls is a romantic comedy, not a scary movie. He was a bit skeptical but came over anyway.

When the movie started Trippy kind of paced around the room. Then he realized that When a Stranger Calls is not a comedy of any sort. He kept pacing then said, “I have to go” and left the apartment. I think he left before the movie was even 10 minutes in… he left before the phone even rang.

We still make fun of Trippy for that.

Trippy is getting married on Saturday and I hope Lisa doesn’t expect to see any scary movies on their honeymoon. (What? Damon and I went to the movies on our honeymoon. We saw Patch Adams.)

If they were going to branch out and face their fears, they could go to New York and see FrightWorld The Movie World Premiere. It premieres on Halloween at Frightworld Haunted Amusement park and is being hailed as “Friday the 13th meets The Shining” which, to me, are very, very scary movies.

And what’s more romantic than seeing a scary movie and being comforted and protected by the man of my dreams? Maybe I’ll put it on my “to do” for our second honeymoon.
