Reliving my childhood

Now that we have Fuller to care for, I am constantly reminded of the way things were when I was little. And last week one of those memories was played out right in front of me.

When we lived in Lexington, VA the UPS truck would pull up to our church (we lived on the second floor of the building) and the guy in the brown uniform would drop off a mysterious box from some far off place. It was always exciting when the UPS truck pulled up because that box could have anything in it and that anything could be for me!

The best time was when that box was for me because usually that meant I got new clothes. Or new clothes to me.

My cousin Lissa would pass along her older clothes to me (and my sisters when their turn came) and I would be so excited about them. One time the box held a green and white striped dress made by eSpirit. Another time I got a nightgown with Barbie on it. I felt very luxurious when I went to bed with Barbie printed on the front of my gown. The possibilities (and my coolness factor) were unmeasurable when we got into that mysterious box from the UPS man.

Last Thursday evening Fuller was playing outside (in the rain) and the UPS truck pulled up in front. Damon ran out and got the box and inside were clothes for Fuller. His older cousin, Nick, has passed along clothing just like my cousin Lissa used to do for me.

Opening the box was just as exciting for me as it was when I was little, even though I knew the contents were for Fuller. Fuller's coolness factor went up 10 fold (Nick is a very snappy dresser) and suddenly all his winter clothing needs were met. He even has more than two pairs of shoes now, which is Fuller's favorite thing about getting dressed.

Reliving my childhood through my son is one of the best parts of being a parent. And having family who is willing to bless us with their good will makes it even better.

Glad you like the clothes. I know Fuller will look so cute in them.
