Turning up the heat

My sister called me today to tell me that there were flurries outside her window and they still had not turned the heat on in her building. While I didn't exactly give her much sympathy (I told her I had to wait for the bus in the cold this morning for 20 minutes), I do think they should turn on the heat when the flurries start.

It has been chilly here as well. We have had the heat on and we have put our heated mattress pad in place for the cold, dark days ahead. But we have control of our thermostat and she doesn't. The thought process seems to be that once they turn on the heat an "indian summer' will heat up and it will a bit too hot inside the building.

I keep waiting for it to warm up again. Like those who control my sister's heat, I am a bit wary of bringing down our winter clothes. But if I have another 20 minute wait at the bus stop, I am digging out the turtlenecks.

And maybe sending my sister a space heater.
