A good outdoor accessory- binoculars
One of the slogans that I have seen for Chattanooga is “The Attraction’s Only Natural.” The chamber of commerce wants people to know that Chattanooga is a great place to visit for outdoor activites like hiking, climbing, biking, rafting, bird watching, and hang gliding.
Fortunately, we don’t have to visit, we live here! We like biking around our neighborhood, with Lookout Mountain as our colorful backdrop, especially now that fall is coming and the leaves are changing color. We hike on Lookout Mountain, usually around Craven’s house, since that trail allows dogs.
One of the other outdoor activities I enjoy is bird watching. I got interested in it when I stumbled on Julie Zickefoose’s blog. Her husband, Bill, is the editor of the Birdwatcher’s Digest, and his digiscoped pictures of birds are amazing. I was so interested in the idea of digiscoping that I got my mom to mail me her binoculars that she uses for her birdwatching. (Then I really realized that my camera is not good for that at all.)
I have to give her back the binoculars, so sometime soon I should probably look into getting my own. I’ve seen wholesale binoculars">wholesale binoculars online that look pretty affordable. And if I am serious about trying to digiscope with my new camera, from what I have read a pair of high power or zoom binoculars would help a lot.
The Bushnell Powerview Compact Zoom looks affordable. As a bonus, the styling is rugged, which helps in the outdoors.
I won’t have be able to get them before the Big Sit, but I think wholesale binoculars are a great accessory to checking out Chattanooga.![]()
What a beautiful place to live (I looked over the brochure). You are very fortunate to live in such a gorgeous area. I bet there are a lot of varieties of birds there to see too.
