Goal reached!
I' ve actually reached my $500 goal with payperposts and blogsvertise. Add in the $50 giftcard I got today (a wellness incentive program through work), plus the $22 from view point forum (I love to take surveys), and I have over $500. Of course, the payperpost money is rolling in daily to my paypal, so I have about a month until I have the cash in hand. That means I will meet my goal of getting my new camera before my 30th birthday.
Whoot! I am so excited. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, that Kodak P880 is going to be mine, all mine. Oh, and Damon's too. The whole what's yours is mine, what's mine is yours thing. Marriage. Geez.
I have other material desires that I think payperpost can help me squelch. Close to the top of my list is a new couch. I don't know if I will immediately start raising money for one, it is just something I am thinking about. And while I think about it, I think I can just take a look around.
What do you think of Doc? (found via Popgadet) Do you think my mom would sleep on the top or the bottom bunk when she comes to visit?
I'm plugging away a bit more slowly, so it is encouraging to see you reach your goal. Concerning the camera...is it an SLR? The Easy Share system is very user friendly, but for the money have you considered stepping up just a bit to a Canon Rebel XT or a Nikon D50? The Rebel XTi is about to be released, and Nikon just released the D80, so there are bound to be some price drops/deals.
Also, in the digicam ultra-zoom spectrum might I suggest the Canon Powershot S3 IS? I've always been a fan of Canon cameras because of their excellent lenses. Even our cheapo $150 model takes great pictures, though it suffers from "digital lag." Either way, I think that a good digital review website to do research on is Imaging-Resource.

Posted by: Colleen at September 13, 2006 10:58 PMDon't pay attention to the crazy talk coming from Scott. Unless you all are former SLR folk.
Usability is key for most folks and if you used and liked the Kodak cameras stick to it. I'm a fan of the Nikon and Canon products but I've seen too many people get frustrated with using them to be too adamant.
Yes, stelmo is right that SLR's aren't for everyone. There are wonderful things you can do with them, but at the same time digicams allow you to take movies, use a preview screen, etc. Besides, if you're the type who always shoots on full auto then you're not taking full advantage of an SLR (except that lens interchangability is nice to have). The only reason I suggested it at all was because the Kodak that you linked to looks like it wants to be an SLR.
PS - Never heard anyone complain about the interface on their Canons...now Nikons are another story. :p
Posted by: Scott at September 14, 2006 09:59 AMI've always been a little bit leary of Kodak cameras due to my experience with them at my previous employer. They craftmanship and durability of their brand in comparison to the Canons, Fujis, Nikons, and Sonys and such was not up to par. They just didn't seem to be as well built as other brands and the number of them that came back to us was outrageous. Anyway, check consumer reports and the likes for more info and then go to stores and handle them before purchasing. I can probably put you in touch with a sales person that won't be trying to "sell" you.
