I dream of Dolly

Over at Three Sons and a Princess, Jennefer was talking about toys for boys. And yes, I have a boy and he plays with toys, but it did get me thinking about my own toys as a kid.

I had dolls. Cabbage patch dolls, paper dolls, and Barbie dolls. I would dress them all in cute outfits and play like they were part of my family or my own daughters to care for. The Barbie was often dressed in fancy clothing, as if going to the Oscars or hooking in the Red Light District in Amsterdam.

I still have all those dolls, even the paper ones, in my attic. My paper dolls are a Colonial family with a little girl who like to wear only her petticoats.

Online you can find dollmaker dress up games for girls. I can let my inner child go and play dress up online. Virtually I can play with the doll’s hair, change the shoes, and quickly change her clothes. Heck, playing with dolls online is almost easier than playing in real life. Have you ever tried to change Barbie’s dress? Her figure may be unrealistic, but so is easily sliding on her dress for the People’s Choice Awards.

Virtual dolls can be displayed online, on your blog or as your avatar for forums. I like mine to have red hair and a bit of royalty. Pretty!

Cool site! Thanks for sharing that. I will have to create a virtual doll for myself now.
