Why didn't you tell me you don't care what I had for lunch?

So, I still have a mild case of bloggers block. It isn't so much that I don't have content to write about, it's that I can't seem to really put it into words that I think are interesting to the 20 or so regulars we have reading around here.

And that is why I want someone to buy my this book. Mainly because I am curious about the contents. 100 things to blog about? Does it include the suggestion to record every cute thing your kid does? Oh wait.. I already do that.

Which leads me to something I want to seriously ask you about. And when I ask this question I expect comments in the comments section with you telling me your thoughts, discussing pros and cons, and offering intelligent opinions regarding the topic.

Here it is: advertisements on personal blogs. Do we hate them? Do we care about them? Do we find them so disgusting that we click off the page? Do we think its a great way for people to get a little more cash? Even if you don't care, please leave a comment to that effect.

I do have an opinion, but I would like to see what other people think before I post about it.

To each is own, I don't really look at them, I go there to read the persons stuff not to look at the ads, which you might miss something or at least I did, in the middle of all of Dooce's ads, she has links of the day that I totally didn't realize until a few days ago were not ads, DUH for me. Personally I don't like them on mine but then again I have a free blogging service and not my own website I have to maintain that cost money.

I don't like them!

I don't care. I'm use to them whenever I am on the web.

I will probably post my thought out thoughts this evening. But please, keep going! What if a person were to use ads to raise money for a cause?

I think that if you can choose who advertises on your site and it is a product you believe in and want others to know about then it is fine. I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to make some extra money if you need it.

Those of you who don't like ads, please let me know why. Is it because it distracts from the content of the site? Is it because you don't think someone should be getting money for posting about their kid's overall cuteness and occasional tantrums? Do you think that a personal site is no longer personal when the ads are there?
Thanks for the input!

I say if someone's willing to pay you to put their logo on your blog, go for it! I do agree with S-G that it should be something you believe in since having it on a blog would be perceived as a personal endorsement.

I also think it should be done in moderation so it doesn't overpower your way-cool site.

I say to each his/her own.
I don't really care and have rarely even looked at the ads....
There is a blog I love that has just recently put up ads--- they are using the money for their daughter's college fund...I like that idea since the blog IS about said daughter- tantrums and all!

I like the idea that you can make money because people enjoy your writing... that is IF people click on the ad- which I don't- but some people must!
Long winded was to say- "I don't care"- haha!!
