Say this three times fast
Flying to Florida with Fuller.
Flying to Florida with Fuller.
Flying to Florida with Fuller.
This afternoon Fuller and I will board a plane and make our way to the graduation festivities of my little sister, Fuller's Tia Sarah-Ginny. (Go congratulate her!)
When we made the commitment to go to Florida I was that forward thinking about the fact that Fuller was going to be a very independant 19 month old and how would that affect the travel portion of the trip? Fuller will be sitting on my lap, but how agreeable he will be with that arrangement I can't forsee.
So, I am a little late in asking you this, but do you have any airplane tips for flying to Florida with Fuller? Somehow I don't think this will be anything like his first airplane trip.
We flew across the country when me daughter was 16 months and I was also 5 months pregnant and she was either on my lap or my husbands lap. We were adviced to get some new toys or books to bring out during the trip. I think I went to the dollar store and got some different board books from a friend. I had something to pull out every 45 minutes or so. I think she mostly just played with her food containers the whole time. I also have a friend who buys special snacks when they go on road trips, her kids even call them "car snacks". It might be fun to have a few things that he's never had before (not that you really want to buy your child off with food or anything). We were also told that it might be a good idea not to let them walk in the aisle or think that they have the priviledge to get down at any time. Treat it like a car, I don't know the temperament of your child but if some are allowed to stretch their legs they might then throw fits the rest of the time to get down. Happy travels and good luck, and remember that you can try to be considerate as possible to others on the flight but when it comes down to it if he is a miserable mess, you'll probably never see them again!
Posted by: jenn ross at May 4, 2006 08:50 AMYou might turn me in to social services for this one, but benedryl. When I took Morgen to Colorado, she was 18 months old, I gave her benedryl prior and she was an angel, except for the runny diaper I had to change on the way home. Just remember to have something for him to suck on for the take off and landing if he is not sleeping.
Posted by: Tiffany at May 4, 2006 08:53 AMI totally agree!!! I also took a little bag of completely new little things-- the Dollar Store rocks!- I also brought his very favorite book. (Mr. Brown can Moo can You???) The funny thing is-- he only wanted the book and I probably read it to him 43 times!!!! He was an angel. Just make sure and bring little food items, new little toys, books, and the PACI! He'll be fine!
Have fun!
Congrats to Sarah!
