Fly Lady, Day 3... failure

Well, my sink is still shiny.

I got a total of 14 emails from FlyLady (or the FlyLady yahoo group) today. It was the morning routine email at that set me back. The email I received at 7:41 said today is Anti-Procrastination Day. Too bad I got it after I began my day by doing exactly that- procrastinating.

Fuller was up at 4 am, which is odd for him. I got him back to sleep by 4:45, but by the time my alarm went off at 6 am, my body wasn't ready to get up. So I procrastinated by resetting the alarm for 7 am. If I wait until then to get up there is no way I can "lace up my shoes" for the day before I have to get connected with work (I have to be connected by 7:30). I didn't get out of my PJs until 6 this evening. (FlyLady wouldn't be too happy to read that.)

Well, from reading more of the website, I am beginning to understand the gist of what FlyLady wants me to do- set a routine to help get my life in some order. This really shouldn't be that difficult, it is just a tad upsetting that I stumbled on the third day of trying to set my routine. But, as all emails from FlyLady tell me, I am not behind! Just jump in where they are.

I admit that I have been ignoring the laundry reminders that come in at 10 am every day. Tomorrow I have to address that situation. And today my work load didn't allow me to participate in the "Super Fling Boogie" but that looks interesting and I plan on trying it next time.

I have to keep reminding myself that my home did not get this way over night and I am still in the baby steps phase.

And I want you to know that the whole shining sink thing really is helping me. My kitchen has been clean for three nights now. And I have actually made dinner for the last two. I think there is a correlation there- clean kitchen, room to work, getting dinner accomplished. And Damon has helped out by actually putting his dirty dishes in the dishwasher when I have asked him. (He told me I would probably have to remind him for quite some time, but didn't seem to mind that he would have to be reminded.)

So, tomorrow is another day. Kelly has already sent me an email telling me to dust the cobwebs from my dining room (light fixtures included). I think I can handle that.

FlyLady also wants you to work on one "new" habit and master that before moving onto another one. Don't try to cram and do everything she says all one day. You will begin to feel "defeated" and then want to give up! I also think somewhere on that huge website it says something about decluttering an area before starting on Kelly's missions. But, it's been a while since I've read the entire site, so I may be thinking of something else.

Congrats on how far you've come! It's a wonderful feeling.
