We aren't going to church
What a yucky way to begin the New Year, not going to church. But, they have no nursery and while that is ok, Fuller the crooked-toothed fuss-budget will be more than a handful feeling the way that he feels. If he was his normal, pre-crooked-toothed self, then we would go. We want to start pew training soon, but today just isn't the day. It wouldn't be worship- it would be stressful.
But, the day will get better. We got an invitation yesterday to join a bunch of friends for New Year's Day lunch, so after Fuller takes a good morning nap we will celebrate with friends. (I'll make hoppin' john and collard greens tonight for tomorrow.)
And tomorrow, well, what is a New Year's celebration without college football? D's office has a confidence pool going on ESPN and I am slowly rising to the top, as I do every year. (I don't change my confidence points, so as each game is played each game weighs a bit more, making me more a force to be reckoned with. I almost win every year.)
The New Year began with a bang in our neighborhood. Our family was fast asleep, but the fireworks at midnight woke me with a start. Maple wasn't too happy about it either, but she found refuge under our covers for a little while.
Happy New Year's, Alli!
