Did you know it is my birthday?
Well, this birthday day has been very low-key, which is ok for me this year. But next year, for my thirtieth birthday… we aren’t doing low-key. Just so you know.
When I got to work, the standard cubicle decorating had been done, except the department decorator took some special time with my decorations.
A few years ago I was asked what kind of cake I wanted for my birthday. I told the person that I wanted a Power Puff Girls cake. I was obliged and I got a cake with three Power Puff Girls figurines on top. I kept the figurines and ever since I have been the one in the office that likes Power Puff Girls. Well, this birthday our office decorator took the time to find PPG themed decorations, including PPG confetti. So, my cubicle said “Happy Birthday” with a little PPG punch.
The fun thing about that confetti was that she put it all over my desk and in my chair. When I went to sweep it out, so that I didn’t have Power Puff Girls all over my butt, it stuck to my hand because of the static. I had a meeting with a VP that morning and I was paranoid for most of the morning that stray confetti was clinging in embarrassing places. Every time I left my office I asked someone spot-check me, but still… confetti paranoia reigned.
I went home a little early so that I could take some time to practice riding the scooter. And then this afternoon I worked hard and hung out with Fuller. He amused me by saying “Yeah!” over and over while he clapped. I took a few “Happy Birthday” phone calls and read a bunch of “Happy Birthday!” emails.
And when Damon came home, I was able to take a ride on the scooter, off to spend a whopping $1.88 in gas to fill it up.
Yup, pretty lowkey. Which is just fine with me.
Now, if only I could convince Damon that Lost would be better watched with a pint of ice cream that would be awesome.
I'm with you on the next year it better be something BIG. Happy Birthday again.
