Pretty roads and memories
Home is nice, even if it is littered with dirty clothes and piles of junk mail to recycle. And now our minds have new memories to file away:
Memories of Fuller crying in the car until we gave him French fries to statisfy that need to feed.
Memories of arriving in Lexington and realizing that our hotel room did not live up to the website’s boasting.
Memories of being in a hotel filled with tiny little beauty pageant contestants with their hair curled and teased, lips coated with color, and parents hoping for that gigantic trophy.
Memories of waking with Fuller at 5:30 and taking him to the holidome to crawl around and burn off energy.
Memories of Fuller screaming a full 30 minutes on the way to Berea.
Memories of walking around the gorgeous and quaint town of Berea, the arts and crafts capital of Kentucky, with my mother and Fuller.
Memories of a nice lunch in a restaurant known for spoonbread. Yum, spoonbread.
Memories of the woman in the reastaurant whispering to her friend, “There are just some places you don’t bring a child.”
Memories of me glaring at the woman and thinking, “if you don’t bring a child, then why do they have highchairs?”
Memories of Fuller enjoying his lunch in the nice restaurant and being an overall great patron. Even if some of his steak fries ended up on the floor.
Memories of learning how to play skittles.
Memories of swimming in the holidome, with a lot of the aforementioned beauty queens.
Memories of dinner in downtown Lexington, at LA Gourmet Pizza.
Memories of brunch at DeSha’s, which didn’t open until 11, but you wouldn’t know that because there are no hours posted anywhere for you to know that.
Memories of a beautiful drive down I75, where the oranges and reds mingled with the greens and browns on the mountains of Kentucky and Tennessee.
I think it was a good trip.
Oh yeah, and Damon & Daddy went to the Auburn vs. Kentucky game. Apparently Auburn won and they enjoyed themselves.
Glad you all had a good time (minus the rude lady). Auntie Stina had fun in the Big Apple. Can't wait to go back again! I'm getting excited for Thanksgiving Break. It's going to be oh so fun!!!
