It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!

Well, the first day of the SEC Tournament is over. And, unexpectedly, Auburn has advanced to the second round due to their 77 to 73 upset victory over Vanderbilt. Actually, Auburn pretty much controlled the whole game.

enjoying_post.jpgWell, other than basketball, there wasn’t a lot going on today. We arrived at noon and checked into the Omni North Tower. We took in the first two games and then headed over to the SEC FanFare. This is basically a big conference room where the tournament’s major sponsors set up booths and give away swag. We picked up a mini stuffed Chik-Fil-A cow, some Dr. Pepper flavored Jelly Bellys, a Mazda t-shirt, and a giant green foam gecko hand from Gieco. We also got a free snapshot of Alli, Fuller, and me with a life-sized stuffed Chik-Fil-A cow (standing on its hind legs, no less.)

Then we experienced an example of how good customer service can slip through the cracks of the corporate walkway. The Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) advertises on their web site that they provide shuttle busses around the campus to the main buildings and their parking lots. On Tuesday, I emailed the GWCC and specifically asked them if the shuttles would be running during the SEC Tournament. I received a reply that, “Courtesy Shuttles will be running on Thursday and Friday from 10am-9pm and Saturday from 9am-5pm.”

Well, it’s getting late here, and I think you can see where this story is going. After the shuttle didn’t show up, I complained. They apologized and said they’d check into it. I sent an email to the lady at GWCC who falsely claimed the shuttles existed. I hope to get a reply from her Friday. I also have the number to call to check if the shuttles have materialized tomorrow. What's my guess? FAT CHANCE. Well, we’ll see what happens.

Man I’m tired. Oh yeah, we had several phone calls during the game from friends and family letting us know we were on TV. We’ll have to check our VCR and post a clip for folks to see.

War Eagle!
